About This Watch

Marine watchmaking is Ulysse Nardin's founding discipline, and the Marine collection is the direct heir to the navigation chronometers the manufacture supplied to more than fifty of the world's navies during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Those instruments required absolute timekeeping accuracy in salt-laden air, under extreme vibration, and through radical temperature swings — conditions that forged in Le Locle an engineering culture that prized reliability above all else. The Marine Torpilleur is the collection's more sport-oriented expression, blending the heritage legibility of the Marine line with a case architecture suited to active use.

The 42 mm stainless steel case is anchored by a screw-down security crown that reinforces water resistance to 50 metres — meaningful for a watch whose name evokes the torpedo boats of naval history. Beneath the anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the white dial delivers the kind of instant legibility that professional marine instruments always demanded: high-contrast numerals, oversized seconds hand for precise interval timing, and a clean date display. Calibre UN-118, Ulysse Nardin's in-house self-winding movement, drives the hands. It carries both COSC chronometer certification and Ulysse Nardin's own performance certificate — a double accreditation that signals accuracy well beyond the industry standard of plus or minus four seconds per day.

The UN-118 further incorporates Ulysse Nardin's silicium and Diamonsil technology in key escapement components, reducing friction, eliminating magnetism sensitivity, and extending the power reserve to a practical 60 hours — displayed via a dedicated indicator on the dial. This reserve ensures the watch runs through a typical weekend without being worn, making the Marine Torpilleur as suitable for modern daily wear as it was conceptually suited to the wheelhouse of a torpedo boat. Finished on a leather strap with folding buckle, this white-dial reference offers the Marine collection's most accessible price point alongside its most enduring horological pedigree.
