The "Root Beer" GMT-Master II has long commanded a loyal following, and reference 126711CHNR — introduced at Baselworld 2018 — brought a thoroughly modern movement and bracelet to one of the most evocative colour combinations in the collection's history. The 40 mm Oyster case is rendered in Everose Rolesor, Rolex's proprietary pairing of Oystersteel and 18-carat Everose gold, a rose-gold alloy developed in-house with a platinum additive that prevents the colour from fading over time.

The bidirectional-rotating CERACHROM bezel insert is moulded in two ceramic colours — black and brown — whose tonal contrast directly references the "Root Beer" nickname applied to the steel-and-gold GMT variants of the 1980s. Each colour occupies a 12-hour arc, with the black half functioning as the primary reference zone and the brown half marking the second time zone. The matte black dial provides a neutral, highly legible backdrop for the GMT hand, whose distinctive arrow-head tip tracks a third time zone against the bezel's 24-hour scale.

Calibre 3285 drives the watch: Rolex's dedicated GMT movement, incorporating the Chronergy escapement, a Parachrom hairspring, and a 70-hour power reserve — a substantial upgrade over the 3186 it replaced. The Jubilee bracelet with its five-piece links and Oysterclasp with an Easylink 5 mm comfort extension makes the watch as practical as it is handsome, offering 300 metres of water resistance and a bracelet adjustment mechanism for use over a diving suit.
