Released at Baselworld 2019, the Datejust 36 in Oystersteel with pink dial and selectively diamond-set Roman numeral indices represents a Rolex design sensibility at once timeless and contemporary: classical typography in the chapter ring inflected with brilliant-cut diamonds at 6 and 9 o'clock to create moments of unexpected brilliance within a fundamentally restrained composition. Pink dials have cycled through fashion and back to horological favour, and Rolex's interpretation — a warm, fully saturated rose lacquer — is among the most accomplished in the industry, its depth of colour consistent from edge to centre and resistant to ultraviolet fading.

The 36 mm Oystersteel case benefits from the architectural refinements introduced with the third-generation Datejust: reshaped lugs with subtly increased splay, refined case flanks that improve the relationship between case and bracelet, and the fluted bezel rendered in stainless steel with the same engine-turning applied to precious-metal variants. The Twinlock crown and screw-down case back maintain 100-metre water resistance, while the anti-reflective Cyclops sapphire crystal magnifies the date at 3 o'clock. The Oyster bracelet, terminated with the Easylink 5 mm comfort extension, is produced from the same 904L Oystersteel as the case — a material specification found only on Rolex among major watch manufacturers.

Calibre 3235 delivers the movement specification: the Chronergy escapement, operating at 28,800 vph with a geometry calculated to minimise frictional losses between lever and escape wheel; the Paraflex shock absorber protecting the balance staff; and the variable-inertia balance wheel whose weighted gold Microstella screws allow fine regulation without disturbing the spring geometry. Power reserve is 70 hours — nearly triple the conventional 24-hour daily-wear buffer — and accuracy is certified to ±2 seconds per day by Rolex's Superlative Chronometer programme.
