Released at Baselworld 2019, the Datejust 31 in ref. 278381RBR introduced a new intermediate case size into the Datejust collection, occupying a precise calibration point between the Lady-Datejust 28 and the full Datejust 36. The case is constructed in Everose Rolesor — Rolex's proprietary combination of 904L Oystersteel and 18-carat Everose gold, an alloy stabilised with a carefully controlled platinum content that perpetuates its warm rose tonality across decades of wear. The Twinlock screw-down crown, concealed within protective shoulders, maintains water resistance to 100 metres.

The bezel is set with 46 brilliant-cut diamonds, meticulously calibrated for uniform cut, colour, and clarity before being grain-set into the 18-carat Everose gold bezel channel — a process demanding the highest level of Rolex's gemological expertise. Against this diamond-studded surround, the silver dial carries ten individually set diamond hour markers, their brilliant cuts reflecting a different spectral angle from the bezel stones and creating a layered, three-dimensional luminosity across the watch face. The Cyclops lens over the date at three o'clock maintains legibility even at a glance.

Calibre 2236 — Rolex's self-winding movement developed specifically for 31 mm references — powers this watch with approximately 55 hours of power reserve and Superlative Chronometer precision (±2 seconds per day).
