Born from a decade-long partnership between Officine Panerai and the Luna Rossa racing team, the PAM01039 is a watch that channels the aerodynamic discipline of competitive sailing into 47 millimetres of avant-garde engineering. The case is carved entirely from Carbotech — Panerai's proprietary composite of carbon fibres laminated in a PEEK polymer matrix — giving each example a uniquely fibrous, almost organic surface pattern that no two specimens share. The Submersible's defining characteristic, the anti-clockwise rotating unidirectional bezel with its graduated dive scale, is rendered here in matching Carbotech, producing a monolithic aesthetic that is as visually arresting in a race briefing room as it is under thirty atmospheres of water pressure.

Beneath the Carbotech crown-protecting device — Panerai's most iconic engineering contribution, a lever-and-bridge mechanism that locks the winding crown hermetically against the case — beats the manufacture P.9010 calibre. This automatic movement, developed and produced in-house at Panerai's Neuchâtel facility, offers hours, minutes, small seconds and date indication with a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. The dark grey 'sail' dial takes its name and textural quality from the high-tensile fabric of competitive sailing sails, with luminous hour markers and dot indices ensuring legibility in the low-light environments a diver routinely encounters. Small seconds at nine o'clock and a date window at three complete the functional architecture.

The PAM01039 is issued on a black caoutchouc strap — natural rubber, supple and resistant to salt water degradation — and is water resistant to 300 metres (30 bar), comfortably exceeding the demands of recreational and professional diving alike.
