About This Watch

The Centigraphe was born of a specific intellectual proposition: what if a chronograph measured not tenths of a second but hundredths — centièmes — and did so through a mechanism entirely of Journe's own invention? The answer became one of the most discussed complications of the early twenty-first century, and in its LineSport guise, housed in a 44mm platinum case matched to a platinum bracelet, it reaches its most commanding expression. Platinum at this scale carries weight, both literal and symbolic, the case's density lending the Centigraphe a gravitas appropriate to the seriousness of the complication it contains.

Calibre 1506 is manually wound and reserves 80 hours of power, its split-seconds chronograph function operating through Journe's proprietary centièmes mechanism — a rattrapante construction that would be remarkable in any movement, made extraordinary by the fact that its mainplate and bridges are wrought in solid 18K rose gold. The blue guilloché dial, a silvered base transformed by the engine-turning's geometry and then given depth by a blue treatment, reads as both technical document and aesthetic achievement: registers for the split-seconds indication and main chronograph are laid out with the spare legibility that high-speed timing demands, the guilloché surface providing visual richness without compromising function.

At $143,600, the LineSport Centigraphe in platinum represents one of F.P.Journe's most ambitious intersections of collecting ambition and sporting utility. The platinum bracelet's security and weight distribution complement the case with the thoroughness of an integrated design, reminding the wearer at every moment that this piece was conceived as a totality. It is, unambiguously, one of the great complications of independent watchmaking's recent history.
