The Tradition collection is Breguet's most radical departure from convention and, paradoxically, its most historically faithful line — presenting the movement's components in the manner of the early nineteenth-century pocket watches from which the maison draws its greatest inspiration. The 7097 occupies a 40 mm, 18-karat rose gold case with an 11.8 mm profile, its architecture entirely governed by the requirement to display calibre 505 SR1's mechanics on the front surface rather than beneath a conventional dial.

Calibre 505 SR1 introduces a retrograde small seconds complication at ten o'clock, where a fan-shaped sector carries a seconds hand that sweeps across its arc before snapping instantaneously back to its start position — a display that is simultaneously more informative and more theatrical than a conventional subsidiary seconds. The off-centred silvered gold chapter ring, positioned at the upper portion of the dial, carries Breguet numerals and the open-tipped pomme hands; the lower two-thirds of the dial is given over to an exposition of barrels, bridges, and wheels that would be entirely hidden in any other collection. Every component is finished to exhibition standard — bevelled, polished, and engraved.

The sapphire crystal caseback provides a second perspective on the same calibre, though the front-facing view is the more rewarding. The brown leather strap integrates naturally with the rose gold's warmth, and water resistance to 30 metres covers the exigencies of daily wear.
