On 26 June 1801, Abraham-Louis Breguet received French patent No. 157 for the tourbillon — a rotating cage that compensates for the gravitational errors of a pocket watch held upright. More than two centuries later, the Classique 3357 in 18K yellow gold remains among the most distilled expressions of that invention: a 36 mm case, just 8.9 mm thick, that conceals one of haute horlogerie's most demanding constructions beneath a silver dial of deliberate restraint. The warmth of yellow gold imparts a historically apt patina, recalling the pocket chronometers Breguet supplied to the crowned heads of Europe.

Calibre 558 T beats at the heart of the 3357, a manual-winding movement whose tourbillon cage carries the balance wheel and escapement in perpetual revolution against positional error. The offset dial arrangement — hour and minute displayed in a subdial at 12 o'clock, freeing the lower portion to frame the spinning tourbillon cage — is a masterclass in purposeful asymmetry. Small seconds are indicated on the tourbillon shaft itself, a detail so mechanically logical that only Breguet would present it without fanfare.
