About This Watch

Emmanuel Gueit's 1993 Offshore concept was always conceived as the Royal Oak pushed to extremes, and the Tourbillon Chronograph ref. 26421OR.OO.A002CA.01 represents the ultimate mechanical expression of that brief. The 45 mm 18-carat pink gold case — with its expanded crown protectors, thickened bezel, and architectural bulk — makes the standard Royal Oak appear almost delicate by comparison, yet the design language remains coherent: octagonal bezel, eight hexagonal case screws, and the same fundamental tension between refined geometry and muscular presence that defines the entire family.

The hand-wound movement within is among the most complex calibres Audemars Piguet has ever housed in the Offshore. A flying tourbillon — its cage rotating once per minute at 6 o'clock, unobstructed by a bridge — coexists with a flyback chronograph mechanism and a complete aperture display system. The skeletonised mainplate and bridges are entirely openworked, revealing the tourbillon cage, column wheel, vertical clutch, and gear train in unobstructed detail through the dial. The sapphire caseback extends this transparency to the reverse, where the twin barrels and finishing of the movement's underside are fully visible.

Worn on a black caoutchouc rubber strap secured by a pin buckle, the 26421OR.OO.A002CA.01 achieves the contradiction at the heart of the Offshore's appeal: it is unmistakably a sports watch — robust, water-sealed, intended to be worn rather than stored — yet the 18-carat pink gold and the complexity of its movement place it firmly in the company of the finest dress complications ever produced. At £299,999, this is a reference for the collector who demands both extremes simultaneously.
