About This Watch
At the apex of the Royal Oak Concept family sits Ref. 26612TI — a 44 mm titanium monument to simultaneous tourbillon regulation and flyback chronograph function. The Concept collection was established precisely to house complications that exceed the dimensional and architectural tolerances of the standard Royal Oak, and the Calibre 2936 that drives this reference exemplifies that mandate: a self-winding tourbillon chronograph of immense mechanical complexity, visible in its entirety through the openworked dial and the transparent sapphire caseback, its bridges and plates reduced to the minimum material required for structural integrity.
Sandblasted titanium renders the 44 mm case simultaneously lightweight and assertively textured, its octagonal bezel anchored by eight decorative screws that consciously echo the original Royal Oak's defining visual motif. The screw-locked crown and pushpieces are finished with the same grade of titanium, integrating seamlessly into a case architecture that sacrifices no ergonomic consideration to its visual ambitions. The automatic winding system drives through a peripheral rotor that avoids obscuring the tourbillon cage — a design decision that prioritises the visual drama of the complication above the convenience of a more conventional winding architecture. Luminous hands and markers ensure functional legibility at any hour.
The openworked dial presents the movement as the primary aesthetic statement: the tourbillon rotates at six o'clock while the chronograph mechanism — its column wheel and lateral clutch exposed — occupies the spatial register above. A black rubber strap with contrasting stitching, secured by an AP folding buckle, provides the tactile complement to the watch's visual intensity. Accompanied by box and papers, Ref. 26612TI is a watch for the serious complication collector: a piece in which every visible component is simultaneously functional, decorative, and an argument for the continued relevance of mechanical haute horlogerie.
