Fifty years after Gerald Genta sketched the Royal Oak on a napkin in a single evening, the silhouette continues to define the sports-luxury category it created. Ref. 26331ST.OO.1220ST.03 deploys that geometry in 41mm stainless steel — a material Genta originally chose to shock a Swiss industry wedded to precious metals — and adds a column-wheel chronograph that elevates the complication to the same level of artistry as the case itself. At 11mm thick, the profile is remarkably slender for a fully-integrated chronograph, speaking to the extraordinary movement architecture within.

Power comes from Calibre 4401, AP's manufacture flyback chronograph calibre that replaced the 2385 in the Royal Oak line. The integrated column-wheel and lateral coupling deliver a crisp, positive pusher feel, while the flyback function — activated at 4 o'clock — allows instant chronograph reset without stopping. Running at 21,600 vph with approximately 70 hours of power reserve, the movement is visible through a sapphire caseback. On the silver-toned Grande Tapisserie dial, black sub-registers and a contrasting outer zone frame white gold applied indices and iconic Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating for assured legibility.

The stainless steel integrated bracelet terminates in AP's classic folding buckle, its alternating brushed and polished links echoing the bezel's eight-sided form. Water-resistant to 50 metres, this steel chronograph occupies the sweet spot of the Royal Oak family — democratic enough to be an everyday companion, technically accomplished enough to reward serious collectors.
