Caroline Scheufele of Chopard and AP's watchmakers collaborated with the Florentine jeweller Carolina Bucci to bring the Florentine hammering technique — a centuries-old gold decoration method — to the Royal Oak, and no application of it is more spectacular than the 15468BA. The 37 mm case in 18-carat yellow gold is entirely hammered by hand, each facet of the octagonal case, bezel, and bracelet transformed into a glittering constellation of micro-facets that scatter light with extraordinary vivacity. The bezel is further set with rainbow baguette-cut multicoloured gemstones — sapphires, rubies, tsavorites, and amethysts arranged in a graduated chromatic arc — elevating this reference from high watchmaking into the realm of high jewellery.

The openworked movement visible through the skeletonised dial is distinguished by the Double Balance Wheel — AP's proprietary innovation that uses two balance wheels regulated in parallel to provide exceptional resistance to gravitational error and positional variations. This mechanism, developed entirely in-house, is finished to the same extraordinary standard as the rest of the calibre: bridges hand-engraved, wheels chamfered and polished, every component a miniature sculpture in its own right. A transparent caseback reveals the same spectacle from the reverse, the movement elevated by the Frosted Gold hammering that extends across the caseback.

With a dial open to reveal both the double balance mechanism and the guilloché gold plate behind it, depth and movement replace colour as the primary dial experience. The integrated yellow-gold bracelet, hammered across every link, carries the same extraordinary texture as the case, flowing from lug to clasp in a continuous tactile statement. An AP folding clasp in hammered yellow gold closes the ensemble with characteristic precision. Water resistance to 50 metres affirms that technical rigour was never sacrificed for aesthetic ambition. At $209,999, the 15468BA is the most extravagant expression of the 37 mm Royal Oak.
