Introduced in 2019 as Audemars Piguet's most ambitious in-house architecture since the Royal Oak itself, the Code 11.59 collection pushed the manufacture's craftspeople to develop entirely new case-construction techniques. The 2023 Ref. 26396NR represents the collection's apex: an extraordinary material marriage of black ceramic — machined to extraordinary tolerances to form the curved middle case — with 18-carat pink gold deployed for the lugs, bezel, caseback, and crown. The resulting contrast of matte black against warm rose gold is visually arresting, a polarity that shifts mood with every change in lighting.

At the heart of the 41 mm case resides Calibre 2950, Audemars Piguet's in-house flying tourbillon movement — a complication that removes the conventional tourbillon bridge to present the rotating cage in an unobstructed view at six o'clock. Oscillating at 21,600 vph, the cage completes one revolution per minute, its movement hypnotic against the dial below. A transparent sapphire caseback with glareproofing on both surfaces allows the movement's architecture to be admired from the reverse, its finishing alternating between côtes de Genève striping and hand-bevelled bridges.

The dial is fashioned from natural green aventurine — a semi-precious stone whose embedded mineral platelets produce an internal scintillation no manufactured material can replicate. Rose gold applied hour-markers and hands in the same warm metal complete the composition with restraint, allowing the stone's character to remain the primary focus. An AP folding clasp in matching metal and a water resistance of 30 metres round out the specification. At USD 399,999, this is the Code 11.59 at its most rarefied — a collector's tourbillon that marries haute horlogerie with contemporary material science.
